Budget 2012-13

Budget-ImageBuilding critical infrastructure, maintaining community service levels and a constrained rate rise form part of the Mackay Regional Council 2012-2013 Budget, handed down on Wednesday June 27.

Council has adopted a disciplined financial management approach, which will see the average residential rate, including charges and utilities increase by about $145.51 per year or $2.80 per week.

The general rate is up five per cent

Water and sewerage rates are up seven per cent

A charge of $23.40 has been included in the existing Waste Facilities Management Levy to cover costs associated with the Federal Government’s Carbon Tax.

Mayor Deirdre Comerford said this budget has continued council’s strong commitment to investing in the building blocks of the region –
roads, drainage, water and sewerage.

Total budget - $324 million
Capital budget - $122 million
