Platypus Beach was once a popular swimming hole for locals and tourists. In recent years it had been overtaken by exotic weeds, such as elephant grass, para grass and castor-oil plant. Council has returned Platypus Beach to its former glory by carrying out weed clearing, re-profiling the riverbed and installing new amenities. This project has been extremely well-received by the community and will help drive tourism to the area. It is now open to the public.
