Mackay 150
The anniversary commemorates the establishment of Captain John Mackay’s camp at Greenmount in January 1862.
The year-long celebrations give us all an opportunity to celebrate and reflect on what it means to live in this great place.
It’s an opportunity to reflect on our past, celebrate our people and our places.
The celebrations will run from January to December 2012.
Mackay Regional Council will take the lead in planning and coordinating many events during the year. To make the year a success, council will work in partnership with organisations and communities to mark the celebrations in a meaningful way.
Council has produced a commemorative logo for the celebrations. Businesses and community groups are encouraged to make use of the logo and place it on any of their marketing collateral to further promote the year.
