Big water and waste contracts on offer

Local businesses have the opportunity to land a big water and waste contract with council.

Council is seeking Expressions of Interest for its $15.8 million Mirani Water Recycling Facility Upgrade Project and the Disposal of Biosolids and Greenwaste from council facilities.

Infrastructure and Services Committee Chair Cr Karen May said this is a great opportunity for a local water and waste business.

“Council is keen to work with local businesses to help create jobs and boost our local economy.”

“The Mirani Sewerage Facility needs to be upgraded to meet the needs of our growing community, increase capacity from 3,500 Equivalent People (EP) to 7,000 Equivalent People.”

“We would also like to understand the market value of our biosolids and greenwaste product and see if reuse could be achieved,” Cr May said.

Council will shortlist the Expressions of Interest based on their qualifications, and tenders will be invited from the shortlist.

The documents will be available on the Queensland Government QTender website next month.
