Civic Precinct abuzz with creativity for indie market

Originality is a rarity in this commercialised world.

However, between 1pm and 4pm this Sunday, September 16, Artspace’s much-loved indie market is bringing originality and creativity to the Civic Precinct in spades.

The Rock Paper Scissors Art and Design Market features dozens of stalls selling something for everyone, from craft items to affordable artisan jewellery and fine art prints.

The market is situated between Artspace and the MECC.

Cr Fran Mann said the event was special because it was curated by the Artspace Mackay team.

“Stallholders are selected for their uniqueness and creativity – it’s all about indie design, art and craft, so you won’t find anything mass produced and imported,” Cr Mann said.

“It’s a great place to shop for early Christmas gifts that are sure to stand out and it’s also a fantastic event to relax at,” she said.

“Bring a rug, enjoy the live music and entertainment and grab something tasty from Foodspace.”

Cr Mann said Rock Paper Scissors was a fantastic showcase event for talented locals.

“Honestly, I’m always amazed by the variety of talented locals who attend this event – from painters and printers to fashion designers and candle makers.

“It’s such a fun atmosphere and there’s always a great buzz from proud stallholders showing off their creations.”

Entry to the Rock Paper Scissors Art and Design Market is free.
