#MackayPride on Show

Council's display at the 2017 Mackay Show is greener than ever before.

The display is a mini Mackay inspired theme and has something for young and old, according to Community Engagement Committee chair Cr Fran Mann.

“Building on the success of last year’s tropical theme, the display features a large number of trees, plants, flowers and park benches,’’ Cr Mann said.

“A new feature of this year’s display is a flower and water digital projected pond by the Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens,” she said.

Plenty of give-aways will also be available, including free native plants from Parks and Environment, 3D printed fidget spinners for the kids from Libraries and dog chews and dog leads from Local Laws.

Show-goers will also be able to rehydrate at a free “Choose Tap” water bottle refill station set up by Mackay Water Services in the council display.

Local councillors will be available for a “Cuppa with a Councillor” tomorrow (June 20) from 10am to 4pm and Thursday from 9am to 1pm, giving residents the opportunity to discuss important community topics.

Ranger Ros from wild puppets will also make some special appearances outside of school hours, with educational puppet shows to entertain the kids.

Visitors to council’s show display can enter a free competition to win a trip to State of Origin III in Brisbane, including flights and accommodation for two adults and platinum game tickets.

The council show display is located in Pavilion 2 at the Mackay Show Grounds and open from Tuesday to Thursday this week.
