Rebel Women's Big Bash League hits Mackay

The Brisbane Heat have named an unchanged squad as they continue towards the Rebel Women's Big Bash League finals in an historic double-header in Mackay.

The in-form Brisbane team will face the Melbourne Stars tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday under lights at Harrup Park, the first time a regular season BBL or WBBL game has been played in regional Queensland.

Funding through council’s Invest Mackay Events Attraction Program helped secure the double-header for Mackay.

The Heat, who flew into Mackay today, are coming off four strong wins over the Hobart Hurricanes and Adelaide Strikers and are currently sitting in fourth position on a congested WBBL ladder, on the same points as the two teams above them

Heat openers Beth Mooney and captain Kirby Short will be hoping to continue their strong recent form, after some towering performances in Tasmania and South Australia.

It will be the first time the Heat have played a game in their home state under lights, with a big crowd expected at Harrup Park as the Heat continues its commitment to engage fans across the state.

Entry to both games in Mackay is free, with play to begin at 6.30pm.
