> Where is Poss Now? - School Holiday Quiz with a difference!

Quizzes are available from Thursday 24th June 2017 at the Botanic Gardens or online
During the school holidays photos of “Poss” the Ringtail Possum will appear daily on the Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens Facebook page. Come and pick up a quiz sheet from the gardens administration building or download from the Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens website > www.mackayregionalbotanicgardens.com.au and fill in the places and dates where “Poss” has appeared in the gardens.You might have to visit the gardens to find the places “Poss” has been spotted. Completed quizzes need to be returned to the Botanic Gardens administration building and a prize will be drawn by “Poss” himself at the end of school holidays.

> Magical Tree Elves Craft

Drop in between 10am – 4pm

Bring your children along to make their own magical tree elves and have them on display at the Gardens! An area of the sun lawn will be set up with tables for children to create their tree elves from clay and natural resources. Children can choose to display their tree elves at the Gardens or take them home. Children must be accompanied by a parent/ carer.

Come on down to the gardens and take a walk along the lagoons and see how many of the most commonly found birds you can see from our birds spotted sheets. Spend some time at our bird shelters and see what else you can find along the lagoons. > Fish, sea shells & journeys by boat: Art activities inspired by Mackay’s Australian South Sea Islander heritage

Bring your family and friends for free school holiday drop-in art activities inspired by Mackay’s Australian South Sea Islander heritage. Learn to weave fish, fold paper into boats to add to the huge map wall. Make shell necklaces and use shell stamps to make artist book passports. Write your very own stories about boat journeys and fishing. Stay for a few minutes, or a few hours. Parental supervision is required. Gallery hours are from Tuesday to Friday 10am – 5pm, weekends from 10am – 3pm.
