Spiegeltent lends European luxury to Festival
The 2018 Mackay Mazda Festival of Arts will feature a giant, luxury European Wonderland Spiegeltent.
Dutch for “mirror tent”, the Spiegeltent provides a truly unique, intimate circus, cabaret or theatre venue in a stylish, historic setting.
This ambient venue, which comes complete with stained glass windows and mirrors, is coming to Mackay from July 7 to July 28.
Better yet, Mayor Greg Williamson said it would feature a spectacular program of live entertainment for all ages.
“Festival-goers will be able to enjoy the spectacle and sparkle of two exciting shows, one for families and the other aimed at adult audiences,” Cr Williamson said.
“The first show, Circus Wonderland, will be perfect for families during the day,” he said.
“And renowned cabaret Rouge, for the adults, will be on in the evening.”
Rogue offers an intoxicating blend of sensational acrobatics, operatic cabaret and tongue-in-cheek burlesque.
Cr Williamson said the spectacular venue would be a considerable drawcard for our region, especially for visiting families during the holiday period.
“Because of this ability to draw out-of-town audiences, it has been supported by council’s Invest Mackay Events Attraction Fund,” he said.
The Spiegeltent will be constructed on the Civic Precinct lawns between the MECC and Artspace and will certainly add a festival atmosphere to the area.
It also means that audiences can enjoy delicious food catered by Foodspace during performances.
Tickets for Spiegeltent shows will be available through the MECC and will go on sale with the release of the Festival program in March.
