Time running out to apply for $4000 arts bursary

Published: 14 Jan 2019

Applications for Artspace Mackay Foundation’s $4000 Hands On Bursary close this coming Monday (January 21).

Now in its milestone tenth year, the bursary is open to artists aged 17 to 25, including current Year 12 students who gain acceptance into a recognised tertiary arts course.

The money may be used for tuition fees, textbooks or equipment required as part of the student’s studies.

To be eligible for the Hands On Bursary, you must be a local resident either currently studying, or having applied to study, a recognised arts tertiary course in 2019.

All young artists interested in applying for the bursary must provide the Foundation with a letter outlining why they should be considered, a resume of artistic achievements and a disc containing images of their works.

Funded by The Artspace Mackay Foundation and supported by council, the Hands On Bursary is an annual initiative which pays tribute to one of Mackay’s celebrated artists, the late Rick Wood.
