1) "Sharing the Insect World" with Maya Harrison

Friday, April 16, 10am to noon
Botanic Gardens meeting room

Come along to the Botanic Gardens meeting room and investigate live insects, see photos and learn information with Maya Harrison of ‘Maya’s Nature’, then go on a walk to find where some of these insects might live in the Botanic Gardens. This workshop is suitable for school-aged children. Please bring a hat and water bottle. Children are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes. Bookings are essential, and places are limited. 2) Mackay Twilight Market

Mackay Show Precinct
Mackay's newest twilight market is to be held at the Mackay Showgrounds with shopping, food, local artists and kids’ entertainment on offer. There is a $2 entry fee for adults and lucky door prizes. Call Trisha on 0417 629 418 for more information.

Baby Bounce promotes language development in babies from birth to walking. The session features nursery rhymes, finger plays and songs. It's never too early to talk, read and tell stories with your child. One ticket required per attendee (one child plus one parent/guardian = two tickets). 4) BMA Kidspace

Artspace Mackay

BMA Kidspace, the ever-popular toddlers' program, gives children under five a chance to explore and have fun with art in a climate of co-operative learning. The program includes free artist-run workshops from 10am to 2pm and live musical entertainment for kids from 12pm to 1pm. Bring your children along for a fun day of artmaking, singing and dancing. Drop-ins welcome, no bookings required.

5) Ask a Genie

Bring your family history queries to the library for assistance from a genealogy specialist. The Mackay Family History Society will assist with questions regarding your family history. No bookings required.

Imagine, invent, discover and create with challenging and entertaining hands-on activities. Sessions range from LEGO play to coding, science experiments to creative arts and much more. STEAM club is specifically designed for children in years three to six.

8) Friday guided walks

Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens
Join one of the Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens volunteer guides for a free guided walk. Walks go at a leisurely pace for about an hour wandering the pathways of the gardens. Bookings are essential. Phone 4952 7300 or email botanic@mackay.qld.gov.au to book a spot.

10) Ukulele melodies

This program is the perfect opportunity to learn basic melodies on the ukulele, especially if you are a beginner to instruments. Ukuleles will be provided for this session. This is an Older and Bolder event for adults aged 50 and above, made possible thanks to funding from Tech Savvy Seniors Queensland.

The Wiggles – We’re All Fruit Salad Tour

The MECC Auditorium

The We’re All Fruit Salad Tour, features Wiggly classics and new songs from the group, plus a variety of dance styles and performances that go with different styles of music. Children will see and hear drums, keyboards, banjo, guitars, bagpipes and lots of singing. There’s a range of ticketing options for young and old including VIP tickets featuring the Big Red Car experience, a meet and greet with The Wiggles and a merchandise pack.
