Visitors to enjoy a taste of the region’s produce

Published: 22 May 2019

Plans are on track for a juicy development in the local food and agritourism scene, bringing food loving tourists onto farms across the region.

Seventeen separate tours have been finalised in the past month and the first is set to depart on Friday, 31st May, with tickets now on sale for these full day foodie bus tours.

The tours are hosted by the Greater Whitsunday Food Network and feature farms where visitors will learn about a range of agricultural industries including beef, dairy, sugar, strawberries, mangoes, pork, free range eggs and much more.

Sarina Sugar Shed and Goanna Brewing feature in two of the tours, while Platypus Restaurant and Café and The Old Station Teahouse are other stops on several others.

Tasting treats and finding hidden foodie treasures will be a highlight for those who venture off the regular beaten tourist path and organisers are excited by the prospect of showcasing some of the best local produce and food we have to offer visitors to the Mackay region.
