Work begins at Seaforth swimming enclosure

Council will begin carrying out repairs to Seaforth Swimming Enclosure from next week.

The enclosure was severely damaged in Tropical Cyclone Debbie.

Several brackets, posts and rails need to be replaced as well as most of the net.

Work is expected to take about one month to complete, weather permitting.

Residents are asked to avoid the area during construction.

Seaforth is a popular area for locals and tourists all year round and council understands the community values these facilities.

Council will also be carrying out repairs on the swimming enclosures at Haliday Bay and Mcewans Beach once the work at Seaforth is complete, which were also damaged by Cyclone Debbie.

The estimated value of the repairs across all three sites is more than $100,000.

Funds for the repair of these enclosures have been included in council's bid for assistance under the State and Federal governments' Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) program.
