Time is almost up for Australia Day Award nominations
Start your New Year off on the right foot and get involved with your local community – nominate somebody or an event you know worthy of recognition.
The 2012 Australia Day Awards nominations close next week on Monday, January 9 at 5pm and last minute entries are being sought.
Don’t let the exceptional work and tireless efforts of your fellow peers and residents go unnoticed.
To nominate, simply go online and fill out the quick 10 minute form.
Awards available for nomination include Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the year as well as community awards to be presented at Mackay, Sarina and Pioneer Valley Australia Day celebrations:
• Senior and Junior Sportsperson of the Year
• Volunteer of the Year
• Community Event of the Year
• Cultural Award (music, art and drama etc)

Save the date > Thursday, January 26 – Australia Day Celebrations
Come along to one or all three of council’s planned events at the following locations:
• Pioneer Valley > Finch Hatton Showgrounds from 9am to 11am
• Sarina > Bob Wood Cultural Hall from 12.30pm to 2.30pm
• Mackay > Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre from 4pm to 7pm
Each event will be full of free family fun including local entertainment, children’s amusements, car displays, giveaways and much more!
