New Book Club is looking for keen readers to join
Avid readers are wanted for Mackay Regional Council’s Library Services Book Club that’s launching on Thursday, May 24 at Gordon White Library from 6pm to 8pm.
The club titled, Between the Lines, is open to all members of the public who are looking for an opportunity to talk about books, make new friends and expand their reading material.
The first session coming up on Thursday, May 24 will simply be a get-together to register members interests, talk about how the club should run (how regular to meet etc) and of course to pick the first book to read and discuss.
Books clubs are a simple formula: gather people, pick a book, read it and get together and discuss it.
If you love reading, and you want to make this usually solitary pursuit a social one, join the Between the Lines Book Club and bring a whole new aspect to your favourite pastime.
And the good news is you don’t have to wait to the formal get-togethers to discuss your thoughts – the Between the Lines Book Club will also be going online in the form of a blog.
Members will be able to go online at any time and share their thoughts on books we love (and books we don’t!).
Council’s Library staff will also be frequently posting interesting articles on the blog, but like any book club – it’s all about discussion, so we want our members to get involved!
To find out more information or to register your interest in joining the club simply call council’s Learning and Outreach Librarian Margaret James on 1300 MACKAY (622 529).
