“Trees and Flowers Exhibition” by ‘Bush to Beach Art Group’ (B2B)
Lagoons Gallery and Café 1 June – 3 July 2011
The Bush to Beach Art Group (B2B) is a collective of local artists living and working in the bush and at the beaches around Sarina. The group came together in 2006 to encourage the development of our own local artists. The group is comprised of both established and emerging artists working in a variety of media that includes acrylics, oil, pastels, water-colour, mixed media, printmaking and photograph. The B2B artists greatly enjoy working together, in our local area in the studio and in the field, to produce the artworks to be exhibited at the “Trees and Flowers Exhibition”. The group choose to focus on trees because when they go bush they always see lots of exciting trees they would like to paint and to add colour to the exhibition they have included flowers. Members of the group are: Mary Brown founder, Marie Therese Watson, Bill Hancock, Bob Faulkner, Lyn Olsen, Uta Wild, Sue Ford, Sue Mitchel, Silvia Greenwood, Elisabeth Craig and Brigitte Zimmermann.
Featured artwork is ‘Trees’ by founder Mary Brown.
The Lagoons Gallery and Cafe is open Wednesday to Friday - 10am to 3pm, Weekends 9am to 4pm. Cost Free: Contact Botanic Gardens on (07) 4952 7300 or email botanic@mackay.qld.gov.au for more information.

Mackay Regional Botanic Garden Friends Planting BeeSaturday, June 4
One of a variety of regular activities the Friends of the Gardens group participate in. The Garden Friends will be planting in the Finch Hatton Gorge Waterway Gardens / Screens and Hedges Gardens at their next Planting Bee on Saturday, June 4. This is a great opportunity to come along and learn more about the types of plants which grow in the nearby Finch Hatton Gorge. Find out which native plants from our local bioregion are being trialed as potential Screens and Hedges plants which the local community can then utilise for their own gardens. Planting Bees also offer all budding green thumbs a chance to get their hands dirty and help the Gardens extend their plant collection. All Planting Bees commence at 9am sharp; with a “planting induction” and participants are asked to remember to slip, slop, slap and wear closed in footwear. For more information contact the Botanic Gardens on (07) 4952 7300 or email botanic@mackay.qld.gov.au
