“The Mates Exhibition" - Roy Huff and Merv Nairn

Two mates, with a passion for painting, showcase some of their favorite paintings featuring birds, building and landscapes painted in acrylics.

Roy Huff will be painting in the Lagoon's Gallery every Friday during the exhibition from 10am - 3pm.

The Lagoons Gallery and Cafe is open Wednesday to Friday - 10am to 3pm, Weekends 9am to 4pm.

“Humans in Gardens” - An Exhibition by Printbank Mackay

1 December 2010 – 9 January 2011

A garden is many things to many people. A child might see a magical playground of colours, shapes and textures to be explored. The elderly may find solace, a place of relaxation or a forgotten memory. To the artist it is a place of awesome wonder and endless inspiration.

Artists of Printbank Mackay use lino prints, etchings, drypoint, and collagraph to create their artworks.

Sunday in the Park - Third Sunday of every month

November 21st, 2 - 4pm
Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens

Tropical Sun Lawn, adjacent to the main entrance, 9 Lagoon Street,

Bring a chair or a blanket, B.Y.O. picnic or purchase some yummy treats from the Lagoons Cafe which is open until 4pm, then settle back, and enjoy the sounds of local musicians at this free concert.

The group is led by Dave Wilson who supplies the sound gear. Each month is different as a variety of musicians add their own flavour to the mix. The afternoon is run by the blackboard system, three songs per person initially.

Christmas in the Gardens

Saturday 18 December 5.30 – 8.30pm

Come along and bring all the family to this very popular Christmas event on Saturday December 18 from 5.30 to 8.30pm.

Featuring: "The Harmonics”, "Karen Bonham" and others as the entertainers for the evening.

The ‘Friends of the Gardens’ will have their ever-popular raffles, glow candles, bracelets, and Christmas songbooks for sale. The Lagoon Cafe will be open until late.

“Leaves, Sticks and Sparkly Bits”- Christmas Decorations and Cards

During the 2 hour session, Children will create a decorative Christmas mobile from leaves, twigs, skeleton leaves and sparkly bits and pieces. Opportunities to make Christmas cards with decorated leaf prints, skeleton leaves or leaf rubbings will also be available.
