Corporate Plan 2015 - 2020

Mackay Regional Council has adopted this important document that will guide decision-making for the next five years

The Corporate plan 2015-2020, which sets the strategic direction and priorities for council, is a legislative requirement of the Local Government Act 2009.

But it has been developed at a time when the region is facing significant economic challenges and its content reflects that.

The plan includes eight priority areas covering the economy, community pride, regional identity, health and wellbeing, environment, infrastructure, lifelong learning and organisational performance.

The blueprint is our shared vision for the region and we'll work collaboratively with our community, state and federal politicians, industry leaders, local business and other stakeholders to make it work.

How did we prepare the plan

A series of internal workshops and discussion forums were held with councillors, senior management and staff.

The Diversify Mackay Leadership Alliance provided input to share their vision for the future and councillors conducted a workshop on November 24, 2014.

Council's management team held a full-day workshop with an independent facilitator.

A follow up workshop with mayor, councillors and senior management was held on March 23, 2015.

Their feedback, together with council's Community Attitude Survey in November 2014, informed the development of our plan.

A draft document was then released for community consultation before the final plan was completed and adopted by council on June 10, 2015.
