Planning Schemes

Three planning schemes form the blue print for the region's growth and development and has been designed to meet all of the requirements of the Integrated Planning Act (1997).

The planning schemes and policies applicable to each of the former councils prior to amalgamation will continue to apply for the geographical areas of the former councils until a new planning scheme is compiled for the amalgamated Mackay Regional council.

In the meantime, those wishing to make building or development applications will do so under the relevant scheme for their previous area.
