Trainees and apprenticeships

Trainees and Apprentices at Council

As a progressive and innovative organisation, Mackay Regional Council trainees and apprentices are exposed to many new challenges that will stretch you as an individual and help you set off on the right foot towards a long and successful career in your chosen industry.

Council takes pride in the fact that its trainees and apprentices have the privilege of working with, learning from and being mentored by skilled and experienced industry professionals and tradespeople.  Additionally, by knowing that their efforts are contributing to the overall mission of Mackay Regional Council, trainees and apprentices are able to feel a sense of pride and achievement in their work.

At any given time, council has upwards of 25 full trainees, four school-based trainees and 16 full time apprentices on its books.

Work Experience

Council’s range of services provides students from high schools and universities with the unique opportunity to access an insight of how local government and their chosen career works in the ‘real world’.  For further information, contact council’s Learning and Development Team on 4961 9607.
