With 200,000 people expected to live in Mackay by 2031, council continues to investigate future growth areas such as Ooralea. A Local Plan is being developed for the Ooralea development area to coordinate growth and to set out the environmental, economic and social considerations to guide future development in the area.
The first stage of the Local Plan project, the Ooralea Local Plan Urban Desig...n Principles document, has been released and encompasses the vision from the September 2010 Enquiry by Design (EBD) workshop outcomes report.
The Ooralea Local Plan Urban Design Principles document is available to view and comment on at council’s website www.mackay.qld.gov.au/ooralealocalareaplan and a detailed consultation process will follow as part of the exhibition of the draft Mackay Region 200k Planning Scheme.
