Queensland Women’s Week
This year, Queensland Women’s Week celebrations will be held from March 2 to 10 and will include a state-wide series of events and activities.
Locally, council is supporting five exciting events that celebrate women that you can be part of:
RIN International Women’s Day Business Lunch
Dr Ellen Moon is the keynote speaker at the Resource Industry Network International Women's Day Business Lunch on March 8.
Dr Moon has travelled to seven continents, including a voyage to Antarctica last year as part of the Homeward Bound leadership initiative for women in science. She’s been named a “Superstar of STEM” for 2019-2020 by Science & Technology Australia and lectures on environmental engineering at Deakin University.

Sarina Women’s Week Dinner and Awards
Sarina Neighbourhood Centre is inviting residents out for a fun-filled night dedicated to celebrating women. Enjoy guest speakers, a delicious two-course dinner, live music from Three Way Crossing, a steam-punk-themed fashion parade and lucky door prizes. This event will also feature the presentation of the Sarina Women’s Week Awards and Mary Malone Perpetual Award.

Zonta Mackay International Women’s Day Fundraiser
This “More Powerful Together” luncheon features guest speaker Dr Helena Popovic MBBS. Helena is a medical doctor, a leading authority on improving brain function, a best-selling author and an international speaker with a mission to educate rather than medicate.

All About Women Satellite 2019
You don't need to be at the Sydney Opera House on March 10 to experience the main stage action of All About Women Festival. The MECC will be livestreaming the “#MeToo, Year Two” panel. All About Women features emerging new voices from around the world speaking about future directions in feminism.
From noon to 1.30pm, Sunday, March 10, in the MECC Meeting Rooms.
Entry costs a gold coin donation.
Artspace Mackay exhibition: Foundations in Drawing
This exhibition celebrates the art of 11 local women who shared the same art tutor, Clem Forbes. Enjoy the works of Kay Bampton, Mary Brown, Margaret Burgess, Irene Coburn, Alison Fenech, Lesley Kane, Lyn Laver Ahmat, Maria Lenz, Sybil Rodger, Raye Williams and Leonie Wood in the Foyer and Gallery Three.
Public exhibition opening: Friday, February 22, at 6pm (floor talk from 5.30pm) at Artspace Mackay.
