Ancestry Library Edition is a huge subscription database, similar to the popular Ancestry.com, which you can use to trace your ancestors. It is only available on the public PCs at Mackay Regional Council Libraries branches. Please note that you will not be able to access it from home.

Convict transportation 

British Convict Transportation Registers 1787-1867

Database has been compiled from the British Home Office (HO) records which are available on microfilm at all Australian State Libraries. You can find details for over 123 000 of the estimated 160 000 convicts transported to Australia in the 18th and 19th centuries - names, term of years, transport ships and more.

Mackay Regional Council Libraries now provide access to online English language modules courtesy of NSW AMES (Adult Migrant English Services). The modules are the equivalent to IELTS 3.0, 4.0, 5.0 and 5.5+. Library membership is required to access this resource.

Additional databases can be accessed through the State Library of Queensland. Access requires a QPL account. This account is FREE to create. To register for a QPL account, visit State Library of Queensland's QPL account registration page and sign up. A valid email address is required. Once signed up you will have a QPL username and password. Restrictions apply regarding access to State Library of Queensland (SLQ) databases. Full details are available on the SLQ website.
