"In the Path of the Storm", the first part of the centenary exhibition in the Jubilee Community Centre showcases collections and stories relating to the 1918 cyclone held by museums across the Mackay region.
It has been collaboratively researched, written, and curated by volunteers from the Mackay Historical Society and Museum, Greenmount Homestead, Pioneer Valley Museum, and Sarina District Historical Centre in partnership with the Queensland Museum's Museum Development Officer programme and Mackay Regional Council.
This collaborative approach has allowed the museums to present a region wide interpretation of the dramatic events of January 1918.
