A blow to business

A buoy washed up at the front of the Grand Hotel on the north-eastern corner of Victoria and Brisbane Streets.  The rooftop of this hotel was where 16 year old Jack Vidulich was summoned to signal to the outside world what had happened to the town.  A proficient Morse code signaller, Jack used a Ford car headlight powered by generator, to communicate to George Rendall, the lighthouse keeper on Flat Top Island, on the night of Thursday 24th January.
