The Discover IT class program contains a range of free, hands-on, practical classes in a relaxed environment. Each class is designed to provide a starting point into the world of digital literacy.

Computer exercises to promote basic operations including mouse and keyboard skills, screen familiarisation and the use of software applications.

Cyberspace can be really confusing. This class will go through basic Cybersafety protocols and assist you to feel more confident.

What happens to your online presence when you die? It’s important to be prepared, especially for your family’s sake. We’ll go through the requirements of various online platforms.

Learn how to access e-books, e-audio books, e-magazines and e-newspapers. It’s easier than you think, and all available for free with your Library membership card.

This class introduces basic digital photography settings to assist in taking good photos. And we will look at basic editing using Pixlr.

There are many items produced all over the world that are only available for purchase via the Internet. eBay is just one of many online purchasing sites. This class will introduce you to the online purchasing and auction process, and discuss online purchasing security.

As a result of digital media and electronic files, we receive and create far more data (information) per person than ever before in human history. This class will look at basic strategies and devices that can assist us in organising and securely storing our personal and broader data.

Designing and creating online has never been easier – so long as you know where to start. This class will introduce you to do basic online 3D and creative design sites. Then, we will have a closer look at the Library’s 3D printers. What might you create?

eTablets

Tablets, including iPads and Android Tablets, have become a viable alternative to computers for many people. They are less costly, more portable and can do most of what an individual would require a computer to do. However, they can have their own little quirks. In this class we will go over basic Tablet functions and good Tablet maintenance.

Confused about the process of booking your travel needs online? How do you grab a bargain and not place yourself or your money at risk?

This class will cover the process of online booking of flights, car hire, train tickets, tours and more.
