Mobile premises food business
If you wish to start a Food Vending Vehicle, your vehicle must comply with council's Food Vending Vehicles Policy:
Mobile Roadside Vending
If the food vending vehicle is to sell food items on a local government controlled road or footpath, you must have an approval for the specific location where the business is operating.
Approval will depend on a number of issues, including – but not necessarily limited to, the following:
- Location of the proposed static vending site
- Food products offered for sale
- Intended hours of operation
- Surrounding businesses
- Type of vehicle
For a detailed list of criteria that will be assessed prior to issuing an approval in this regard, please refer to council's local laws.
Should the operator want to operate the food vending vehicle from a number of locations, approval must be obtained from council for each site.
To apply for a permit approval, simply complete a Mobile Roadside Vending Approval Form (PDF 176.7kb) and submit it to council with the relevant fee.
Please be aware that your business may additionally require a food business licence under the provisions of the Food Act 2006. Refer to licensing requirements for further information.
