Artist puts the tape on for exciting YP event

Buff Diss uses masking tape to create epic geometric street art installations while also staying on the right side of the law.

The exciting Australian street artist will headline the collaborative Artspace Mackay Foundation and Young Professionals event, Street Wise Art After Hours on April 11.

Buff Diss will create one of his signature artworks live at the event.

Running at Artspace Mackay from 5.30pm to 9pm and offering craft brews and street-themed fare, Street Wise Art After Hours will be a fun Thursday night unlike any other.

Artspace Mackay Foundation chair Julie Boyd said this event was a great way to explore the regional art gallery in a different light.

“It’ll be fun and informal, with a real street theme,” said Ms Boyd.

“Not only can you catch Buff Diss taping out a masterpiece, you can have a local craft beer and kick back to the sounds of Evan Daly and his band in a specially designed lounge space,” she said.

“There will also be street fashion from Saige & Sohl and a guest speaker, Autumn Skuthorpe, who is the executive officer of Crossroads Arts and will be talking about arts-business partnerships.”

Entry is $30 and this includes two free drinks and catering.

Ms Boyd said collaborating with Young Professionals Mackay made a lot of sense.

“It lets the Artspace Mackay Foundation tap into a different market and gives us insights into what those in their twenties and early thirties are looking for from arts events,” she said.

This is an 18+ event.

Street Wise Art After Hours is an arts fundraising event for the ASM Foundation, in support of Artspace Mackay programs. Supported by Major Sponsor Blair Signs & Print.
