Catch up with councillors over an early-morning cuppa

Councillors are inviting everyone, from residents to City Centre business owners, to catch up with them over an early-morning coffee this week.

They will be at 9th Lane Grind in Wood Street from 7.30am to 8.30am this Wednesday (September 4) for a community catch-up.

The meet and greet is part of the Council in Community Day initiative.

This month’s agenda has been put together by City locality councillors Deputy Mayor Amanda Camm and Kevin Casey.

Cr Camm said everyone was welcome to attend the community catch-up over coffee at 7.30am.

“We understand that everyone is busy, so by having the catch-up at this time we’re hoping residents or business owners can pop in before they start their working day,’’ Cr Camm said.

“We’ve sent out flyers to City Centre businesses as we’re particularly keen to hear any issues or feedback relating to the CBD,’’ she said.

“But anyone is welcome to attend. It is a great way to bring any items to the attention of council directly in an informal setting.”

Cr Kevin Casey said it would be a busy day of site visits and briefings following the early-morning coffee catch-up.

“We’re heading out to inspect progress on the Mackay Ring Road in the morning,’’ he said.

“Later in the day we’ll be back in the City Centre checking out the stunning interactive murals that have been created in 5th Lane.”
