Is your business waste levy ready?

The council is offering the sessions to assist businesses with the introduction of the Queensland Government's $75 per tonne levy on waste going to landfill from July 1.

Cr Laurence Bonaventura said the council was working to provide local businesses with as much information as possible to reduce the impact of the levy.

"All businesses in the Mackay region will incur the levy," he said.

"The sessions will go through a step-by-step guide on how business owners and operators can reduce waste, separate waste streams and recycle more to help reduce waste disposal costs."

The council's website also has important information and links to websites.

The links include the Queensland Government's Waste Disposal Levy website, Planet Ark Business Recycling and ecoBiz, which offers free tailored advice on reducing business waste.
