Take the time to recognise someone amazing

Published: 02 Jan 2020

TAKE ten minutes these holidays to recognise someone in our community who goes above and beyond.

Mackay Regional Council Australia Day Awards pay tribute to individuals and groups who have made significant contributions to their local community and environment and/or achieved exceptional results in sporting or cultural endeavours.

Nominating someone is quick and easy and can be done online.

You can also download a hardcopy version of the form and return it to one of council’s client service centres.

Nominations close Sunday, January 5.

Whether you know someone who deserves to be nominated as citizen or young citizen of the year, or whether the nomination fits one of the more specialist categories, now is the time to nominate.

Award categories include:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Arts and Culture Award
  • Community Group Award
  • Environmental Achievement Award
  • Lori Burgess Community Volunteer Award
  • Senior Sports Award (26 years and over)
  • Young Sports Award (16 years to 25 years)
