1) Mackay Region Show - #MackayPride on display

The display will include heaps of giveaways and prizes, including a Cowboys Experience package. One of the new additions to this year's display is the impressive 20-metre-long mobile library. Packed full of library books and information, the mobile library is likely to be a regular feature each year at the Mackay Show. The centrepiece of this year's display is the Park and Environment 'find yourself in a park' attraction. This area will include interactive get-active, recreation and relaxation areas with a mountain bike to be won!

2) An Artspace Mackay special event at Art on Show

Thursday, June 20 from 11am - noon
1st Floor, 500 Pavilion, Mackay Showgrounds

Meet Artspace Mackay gallery director Tracey Heathwood and see her present a selection of her favourite artists’ books from the Mackay Regional Council Art Collection. Artspace Mackay houses almost 600 artists’ books from this collection and every two years hosts a national artists’ book prize, the Libris Awards, which attracts the very best artists’ books being created today. Tracey has a long association with the gallery and its collection of artists’ books and is herself a practicing printmaker. She will share personal insights into some of her favourite artists and artists’ books.

4) AFL Winter Series

The Great Barrier Reef Arena, Harrup Park

The women’s Gold Coast Suns take on the Brisbane Lions this Sunday, it’s free entry for the whole family. The main game will kick-off at noon for an afternoon of entertainment there will be jumping castles, food stalls, face painting, AFL activations and more for the kids. Don't miss a great day out. 5) Time Out Tai Chi

Every Monday explore different tai chi forms and feel the calmness through movement of Time Out Tai Chi. 6) BMA Kidspace

Join local artists and performers for creative art activities designed for toddlers and their adults. It’s a fun day of art-making, singing and dancing. BMA Kidspace, Artspace Mackay’s ever popular toddler’s program, gives children under five a chance to explore and have fun with art in a climate of co-operative learning. The program includes free artist-run workshops from 10am to 2pm and live musical entertainment for kids from noon to 1pm.

With the assistance of authors and researchers, Jennifer Perry and Denise Neville, examine a female ancestor’s life in detail, and produce a piece of media to reflect what you have learned. This program includes recording a weekly video diary of your journey.

9) Introduction into Dementia workshop

Do you know someone that has been diagnosed with Dementia? An estimated 436,000 Australians are living with dementia with 250 people diagnosed daily. It’s a tough road for the person with dementia, and often more difficult for the family members who care for them. Introduction into Dementia workshop is an overview of dementia, including signs, symptoms, causes, and affects to the brain and behaviour.

It’s 20 years since 'Blow Up the Pokies' was released on the multi-platinum album 'Love this City’. It will be a fantastic night with 12 songs and two bonus tracks from 'Love this City' and the other half of the rambunctious long set will wander widely through the other five albums. Opening on the night is support act Tate Obst, the 2017 winner of 'Mackay's Got Talent' competition, with his mixture of indie and reggae tunes.
