There is plenty to do around the region this week…Children in prep to year six will grow a green thumb with spring-inspired craft activities at your local library, join Reef Clean for the Great Barrier Reef Clean Up this Saturday and if you love utes and country music, then head down to the Sarina Showgrounds for the Sarina Ute Muster this long weekend.

We’re making the library available exclusively to young adults aged 12 to 18 years old.

4) Great Barrier Reef Clean Up

Mackay Town Beach
Calling all citizen scientists, schools, community groups, local governments and ocean lovers! The day will start at 8:30am and end with a lunch for our volunteers. The clean-up data collected will help track litter to its source and prevent it from entering the waste stream and harming our Great Barrier Reef. Drop-in to Artspace Mackay during the September school holidays and participate in our free artists’ book and collage activities! Enjoy a fun range of creative art projects inspired by the Mackay Regional Council artists’ book collection, including book making, drawing, collage and fun for all ages! You can leave your finished piece on display in the workshop room to inspire others or take it home to show family and friends. 8) ‘Jeepers Creepers’ by the Botanic Art Interest Group

Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens
The ‘Jeepers Creepers’ botanical art exhibition focuses on colourful, curious and captivating flora which are commonly known as vines, scramblers, climbers, creepers or lianas.
Botanical art combines detail, accuracy and artistry, with many hours needed for each graphite drawing, pastel drawing, watercolour or acrylic painting. 9) Mackay Through The Lens photo competition

Capture the Mackay region this October and you could win $3000 in Camera House vouchers!
