Come along to the opening of two exhibitions at Artspace Mackay this Friday evening, Kasey Chambers is celebrating 20 years of her ground-breaking album ‘The Captain’ with a special concert and Gordon White Library is hosting a free disability expo bringing together a range of disability services to one location.

4) Sandy Creek Flood Study Information Session

Cyclone Debbie ripped through our region in March 2017. This saw flooding that some residents say was the worst they have ever seen. The community provided valuable feedback on the flooding they experienced in Sandy Creek, Rocky Dam Creek and Funnel Creek catchment areas. The information was used to calibrate the models used in the draft flood studies and determine areas where council can improve rainfall and river data collection into the future. Twenty years ago, Kasey Chambers released her ground-breaking debut album ‘The Captain’. It was a pivotal record that remains the cornerstone of her outstanding career. In celebration, Kasey performs a very special concert, sentimentally reforming her original band, playing songs from The Captain album, alongside a “best of her career” set.

After a sporting accident left him vision impaired and with a spinal injury, he turned to art to help him manage his pain. In the wee hours of the morning when pain keeps sleep at bay, he turns his mind to positive thoughts. Early Morning Inspiration is a compilation of inspiring quotes and artwork that quietly lifts your mood and helps you to see the beauty in the struggles so many of us experience daily.
