The new Mackay Visitor Information Kiosk located at Bluewater Lagoon is now officially open!

The new kiosk is centrally located at Bluewater Lagoon and will take advantage of the high volume of tourists who visit Bluewater Lagoon every year. The new kiosk replaces the Visitor Information Centre at Nebo Road.

Mackay Tourism Chief Executive Officer Tas Webber said his team were all very excited to move into the new location.

“Whilst 2020 has certainly been a challenge, Mackay’s tourism industry remains strong and we are looking forward to representing our industry from a brand-new building,” Mr Webber said.

“The new facility is looking impressive, with an open counter kiosk where our volunteers will be able to hand out brochures to tourists and provide local information.”

Mayor Greg Williamson said council was proud to support the project and looked forward to seeing Mackay Tourism continue to thrive in the new location.

“The new kiosk at Bluewater Lagoon will allow Mackay Tourism to take advantage of visitors who fly into Mackay in an accessible location that is close to retail, hospitality and accommodation options in Mackay City Centre,” he said.

“Our intel shows that many of our leisure and corporate travellers will shop, eat and book accommodation in the city, so the new location will capture those people.

“The award-winning Mackay Region Visitor Information Centre located at the Sarina Field of Dreams will continue to capture our drive visitors on their way north, with plenty of space for caravan and RV parking.

“This allows them to stop and get information on the range of tourist attractions across the Mackay region and also visit our award-winning Sarina Sugar Shed.

“It really is about having a two-pronged approach so that we meet the needs of every visitor to our region and by moving the Mackay Visitor Information Centre it really does help to address the needs of all tourists to our great city.”
