Parking permits go digital

Published: 23 Jun 2020

The PayStay app and website will soon be able to accommodate parking permit bookings.

From July 1, 2020, Mackay motorists will be able to book their permits for paid car parking in the City Centre using PayStay.

The app was previously limited to daily bookings, but the services have since been expanded to include permits.

To book a permit, simply register or log-in to the PayStay app or website, or call the PayStay call centre and select the time period for the permit, which range from one month to 12 months.

Your permit will be activated as soon as your booking is lodged. There is no need to display a sticker or paper work, council’s systems will identify you as a permit holder via your car’s number plate.

You can also set a reminder through the app for the cost of a text message to advise when your permit is about to expire so you aren’t caught out.

There are four paid parking locations in the City Centre including:

  • Wharf car park – corner of Brisbane and River streets (permits accepted)
  • Riverside car park – corner of River and Gregory streets (permits accepted)
  • Mid-city car park – corner of Gordon and Gregory streets (permits accepted)
  • Cinema car park – corner of Gordon and Wood streets (four hours max – not able to be used by permit holders for parking due to time restrictions).

Paid parking requirements will recommence from Wednesday, July 1, for all off-street paid parking zones in the City Centre. This will include the use of parking machines, located in Mid-city and Cinema car parks.

Book your permit or paid parking at www.paystay.com.au or call PayStay’s call centre on 1300 322 111.
