Restrictions ease at aquatic facilities

Mackay's swimmers can start stretching as restrictions continue to ease at two of the region’s aquatic facilities.

The Pioneer Swim Centre and Mackay ARC will allow additional numbers from Monday (June 22) under an industry approved COVID-Safe plan.

There will no longer be a restriction of one swimmer per lane and bookings are not necessary for individual swimmers.

The Pioneer Swim Centre will now allow up to 60 patrons at a time.

The Mackay ARC will allow 75 patrons at a time in the 50 metre pool, up to 23 patrons in the 25 metre pool, and up to eight patrons in the 15 metre pool.

Learn-to-swim and squad training will also commence at both sites from Monday.

Groups must still make a booking in advance by phone.

All swimmers are urged to maintain social distancing and not gather in groups at the end of the swim lanes.

Change rooms and showers remain closed and residents are encouraged to change in and out of their swimming suits at home, rather than at the pools.

Bluewater Lagoon, Memorial Swim Centre, Sarina Swim Centre and Mirani Swim Centre are all currently closed for winter maintenance.
