Sarina parks to receive new lease on life

Two parks in Sarina are set for a makeover over the next few months.

Work will start on Brooksfield Drive Park at Sarina Beach in mid-July and Brownsey Court Park in Sarina in August.

The work will include the installation of a multi-sports half court at Brooksfield Drive Park and a new, fully-fenced playground featuring a themed combo unit, seesaw and swings at Brownsey Court Park.

Mayor Greg Williamson said council was committed to improving liveability across the whole region.

“These parks will provide Sarina residents with a place to gather and spend quality time with family and friends while providing facilities that encourage active lifestyles,” he said.

“Construction at Brooksfield Drive Park will be completed in late August and work should wrap up at Brownsey Court Park in late-September, weather permitting.

“Providing high quality infrastructure and facilities in our regional areas is a high priority for council.

“Key projects that have been completed in Sarina in recent years including the Visitor Information Centre and Brewers Road shared pathway, and a town centre revitalisation project is on the cards.”

The new half court facilities at Brooksfield Drive will complement the children’s playground at Owen Jenkins Drive Park and will cater to the interests of older children and teenagers.

On the other hand, the playground facilities at Brownsey Court Park will appeal to a younger audience and will replace the aged playground equipment in the nearby Lando Avenue Park, which is being removed.

Brownsey Court Park provides better access and visibility, which is why the play equipment, which includes a roofed shade structure and picnic setting, is being installed at this location.
