Cone Street Park improvements set to begin

Published: 19 Feb 2021

Cone Street Park at Shoal Point is getting an upgrade this month thanks to council works.

The work includes the installation of new all-abilities pathways, a half-court facility, picnic shelter and additional shade tree plantings.

The design of this project has been guided by the feedback received during the community consultation stage, which identified that residents valued the open space provided by the park.

This project aims to maximise the use of the available open space and to provide recreational opportunities that complement the facilities available in Shoal Point Park.

Construction is expected to be completed by late April and works are scheduled to occur between the hours of 6.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Residents are advised that the park will be closed to the public for the duration of the project’s construction and some noise and dust disturbance is expected.

This project has been funded by the Australian Government under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program committing $90,000 and Mackay Regional Council contributing $253,401.
