Drop-in sessions at libraries to discuss flood risk management

Published: 25 May 2021

Council is currently conducting community engagement on a new Mackay Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan.

The plan, which includes associated flood studies, is the largest and technically most complex project undertaken in flood risk management in the Mackay region to date.

Residents are being invited to have their say at connectingmackay.com.au until July 15.

In addition, there will be two community drop-in sessions at Mackay region libraries next month.

The first will be at Dudley Denny City Library on Wednesday, June 9, from 9am to noon.

The second will be at Walkerston Library on Friday, June 11, from 9am to noon.

Council staff will be on hand to talk to residents about the Mackay Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan and what it means for their properties.

A video has also been produced to inform residents about the types of flooding risks in our region and tools to help them be prepared.
