Proposed rename for northern section of Grendon Park

Published: 31 Mar 2021

Council is looking to support an application to rename the northern section of Grendon Park to Half Tide Beach Memorial Park.

The section encompasses the reserve frontage to Hay Point’s Half Tide Beach and would extend from the entrance off Highwater Islet Drive to the entrance off McCarthy Street, south of Chain Lane.

For many years, this location is where the local community hosts wartime remembrance events including the annual Anzac Day dawn service.

The cenotaph, with its memorial wall, acts as a landmark feature along the esplanade strip but is also a place of cultural significance.

A decision is to be finalised by mid-April and community members are being asked to share any concerns or questions.

Community feedback must be submitted to council by Tuesday (April 6).
