While upgrades to Northview Park and Queens Park have received plenty of attention recently, council is also working hard to improve the region’s smaller parks and playgrounds.

Council will begin making improvements to Blacks Beach Park today.

The work includes the installation of a shade shelter and picnic table and relocating another picnic table under the shade structure.

Work is expected to be completed by the end of July and residents are advised that the stairs, playground and amenities at Blacks Beach Park will remain open during construction.

Thanks to funding provided by the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland program, council also recently completed upgrades to Delachantos Road playground in Hampden.

The upgrades included the installation of new play equipment, upgrades to the picnic shelter and the replacement of the existing picnic settings. Trees were also planted to provide more shade.

Work at Corella Way Park at Blacks Beach has also been completed recently. The upgrades included the installation of a new play combo featuring slippery slides and a roofed cubby, a basket swing set and spring toy rocker.

Council also planted two shade trees and retained the park’s mature trees, to shade the play space. The equipment selected has also been purposely chosen to cater to younger children.

Council is also starting work on two parks in Sarina over the next few months including Brooksfield Drive Park at Sarina Beach and Brownsey Court Park in Sarina.
