Councillors out and about in community

Mackay councillors have hit the ground running in 2019 when it comes to visiting all parts of the region.

That will continue this Wednesday (February 6) when they attend the first Council in Community Day of the year, visiting the Northern Suburbs locality.

With engagements ranging from bushfire recovery to the recent council-supported Australia Day events, councillors have been to many parts of the vast region in recent weeks.

“It certainly has been a busy start to 2019 and it has been great to be out and about meeting with many residents,’’ Cr Fran Mann said.

“Our Council in Community Day this Wednesday will include a community catch-up, which will be another opportunity for residents to meet with councillors,’” she said.

The community catch-up will be held at the Breakwater Bar and Restaurant at Mackay marina from 4.45pm to 5.30pm.

Throughout the day, councillors will also be involved in a range of briefings and inspections, including with North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation.

Cr Justin Englert said there was no need to RSVP for the community catch-up at the Breakwater Bar and Restaurant.

“Anyone is welcome to turn up at that time and meet with councillors and senior council management,’’ he said.

“The catch-ups are a great way for residents to raise any issues or provide feedback direct to council in an informal setting.”

Anyone unable to attend the community catch-up can contact their locality councillors direct. Contact details are on the council website at mackay.qld.gov.au
