Councillors out and about in Mackay City

Mackay councillors will visit some City Centre businesses this Wednesday (April 3) afternoon during their monthly Council in Community Day.

The day-long agenda of briefings and meetings for the Mackay City locality includes some time visiting businesses near the corner of Victoria and Macalister streets.

Deputy Mayor Cr Amanda Camm said councillors would be doing some footpath inspections in that location around that time.

“We’re currently looking at the need for some footpath upgrades in parts of the CBD, including some funding opportunities through Works For Queensland,’’ she said.

“We’ll be doing some footpath inspections on Wednesday afternoon and will visit some businesses in that area, including new additions The Deli Nook and Gypsy and the Bower Bird.”

Members of the public will have a chance to catch up with councillors at Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens earlier in the day.

A community catch-up will be held in the Lagoons Meeting Room at the Botanic Gardens in Lagoon Street, West Mackay, from 10.30am to 11.15am.

Cr Kevin Casey, who along with Cr Camm is a locality councillor for Mackay City, said everyone was welcome to attend the community catch-up at 10.30am.

“There is no need to RSVP. Just turn up on the day and take the opportunity to meet councillors and senior managers in an informal session,’’ he said.

“This is a good opportunity to raise any issues or provide face-to-face feedback to council.

“We’ll also provide those attending with an information sheet outlining some of the major projects council is currently undertaking, including in Mackay City.”
