Dynamic video entices people to ‘Discover Mackay’

Published: 26 Oct 2021

A dynamic video has been released encouraging people to “Discover Mackay”.

The video, which is just under two minutes long, was produced by local company Tropical Exposure for Mackay Regional Council.

A 30-second television commercial version has also been produced.

Mackay Mayor Greg Williamson said the new video was an evolution of council’s #mackaypride campaign.

“That very successful campaign was built around a video instilling pride in our residents about the community we live in and included the social media hashtag #mackaypride,’’ Mayor Williamson said.

“We’re now encouraging people to add #discovermackay to their social media posts as well,’’ he said.

“The video is upbeat and really captures the natural beauty of the Mackay region. It encourages people to ‘invest, visit or make the move’ to Mackay.

“It also will again instil pride in Mackay residents about the wonderful part of the world we live in.”

Mayor Williamson said council had slowly introduced the Discover Mackay branding, including on the sides of the region’s garbage trucks.

He said the campaign was now being ramped up, with the video marking the official launch.

“We’re encouraging residents to share the video on their socials as much as possible. We also want the #discovermackay to be used as often as possible.”

The video, which can be viewed on YouTube or on council’s Facebook page, was premiered to delegates at the LGAQ Conference during Mayor Williamson’s welcome address on Monday.

“It was well received and we’re now sharing it with our community,’’ he said.
