Footpath and traffic disruptions in Milton Street

Published: 15 Mar 2019

There will be some disruptions to footpath and road traffic in a section of Milton Street, starting this Sunday (March 17).

A large Poinciana tree, which has caused damage to the road and footpath, has become a safety hazard for pedestrians and motorists and needs to be removed.

Council will carry out tree removal works, as well as repair works to the footpath and roadway, from this 8am this Sunday until Wednesday (March 20), weather permitting.

The tree is located near 96 Milton Street. Due to limited space between the road’s edge and the footpath in this location, the tree will not be replaced.

Pedestrians will be able to use an alternative footpath on the eastern side of Milton Street, with a section of the western side footpath closed for the duration of works.

Motorists will merge to single lane heading north on Milton Street. No right turn from Norris Street into Milton Street will be in effect during the project.

Traffic control will be in place from Sunday to Wednesday. Motorists are asked to take care in this area and obey instructions of traffic controllers.

Council apologises for any inconvenience.
