Help keep our region clean

Published: 14 May 2020

General use of the region’s parks has increased dramatically since the introduction of COVID-19 restrictions and the onset of cooler weather.

While it’s great to see so many people enjoying the outdoors, there has been an increase in the volume of litter being generated as a result.

Council has responded by increasing the level of bin services at identified hot spots but would like to ask residents to help keep our region clean and litter-free.

It’s as simple as recognising that if the closest bin is full, take a quick look to see if there is another nearby and if not, take the rubbish home.

Litter left around the bin can blow away, attract pests and pollute the environment or the region’s waterways.

Council thanks residents for their assistance in this issue.

Residents are also advised that from this weekend all council playgrounds, skate parks and off-leash dog areas will be open to groups of up to 10 people.

Social distancing should be practised at all times by keeping at least 1.5 metres away from others

Residents are asked to be considerate of others who may want to use playgrounds, dog parks or skate parks by limiting their time in these areas if there are others waiting.
