Local contractor awarded Pioneer Valley tender

Local contractor Pentacon Pty Ltd was awarded the contract for the replacement of three stormwater culvert structures in the Pioneer Valley at today’s (July 27) ordinary council meeting.

This $1.1 million project will involve removing and replacing stormwater culverts at three sites, including two on Owens Creek Loop Road and one on Mirani Bolden Road.

Pentacon is expected to begin work at Owens Creek Loop Road from September 2022, weather permitting, with the delivery of all three projects to be completed within this financial year.

Mayor Greg Williamson said that Pentacon represented the best value for money for council and the community.

“Council is always proud to support local businesses where we can,” he said.

“These businesses have local offices that employ people who live in our region, which helps keep the money we spend on these projects in our own economy.”

Mayor Williamson said council was committed to improving and maintaining the road network across the entire region.

“The existing stormwater culverts have reached the end of the serviceable life and must be replaced so they can continue to service the region,” he said.

“To limit the inconvenience caused to motorists during the work, council has also opted to only partially close Mirani Bolden Road due to this road being used as a school bus route.”
