Meet the distiller at Sarina Sugar Shed

Published: 20 Nov 2020

The Sarina Sugar Shed is introducing a new visitor experience where you can meet the distiller.

The Distiller’s Sensory Tour is an intimate 45-minute exploration and explanation of the distilling process at Sarina Sugar Shed, conducted by Sugar Shed’s distiller Sarah Parrott.

This tour utilises all of the senses to discover the true flavour of Sarina rum, and finishes with an expert tasting and analysis of the Sugar Shed’s rum and rum liqueur products.

Sarina Sugar Shed coordinator Ian Mason said this tour would unlock the mysteries of rum distilling.

“This is a chance to interact directly with the distiller, see how our boutique distillery works and to question an expert,” Mr Mason said.

Distiller Sarah Parrott is excited to share her passion for distilling rum.

“I am really looking forward to the opportunity to chat with both rum aficionados and people generally interested in the process of rum making,” Ms Parrott said.

Mayor Greg Williamson said this new Distiller’s Sensory Tour was another way Sarina Sugar Shed was establishing itself as a must-visit attraction in the Mackay region.

“The Sarina Sugar Shed continues to go from strength to strength and this new visitor experience will add another dimension to this award-winning facility,” he said.

The Distiller’s Sensory Tour will run every Wednesday at noon, from November 25.

The cost is $55 per person (18+ years only). Book now by calling 07 4943 2801 (during opening hours) or enquire at tours@sarinasugarshed.com.au
