New Year’s Eve to feature food, fun and Looney entertainment

Published: 24 Dec 2021

Looney Tunes, food vendors, amusement rides, free face painting, fireworks displays and local musicians – the New Year’s Eve River Party is all about family fun.

Not only are Bugs Bunny, Tweety and Sylvester taking to the stage at 6.15pm and 8.30pm, they will be supported by two sensational up-and-coming local performers, Tiffany Grace Music and Kate Lockyer.

Amusement rides, including a giant slide, teacup ride and more, will fill the Brisbane Street car park area and there will be assorted food vendors onsite.

There will be something to suit all tastes, from Italian, kebabs, Asian, Indian, sideshow alley food (dagwood dogs, chips, fairy floss etc) to sweets like ice cream and waffles.

Entry to the event is via Sydney Street and Brisbane Street.  Please note the River Street entrance will be closed.

Emceed by 4MK’s Rob Kidd, the free New Year’s Eve River Party will feature three hours of non-stop entertainment and finish with a bang thanks to the Mackay Waterfront family fireworks at 9pm.

There will be another round of Mackay Waterfront fireworks for the late-night revellers at midnight.

In the event of wet weather, the stage show and entertainment will move to the MECC.

Please keep an eye on the Mackay Festivals Facebook page for announcements from December 29.

Mackay Regional Council’s New Year’s Eve River Party is proudly supported by Mackay Waterfront, the MECC, Star 101.9 and BB Print.
